Ninety Six, South Carolina – Star Fort Encampment

The acrid musket smoke fills this scene at Ninety Six National Historic Site. The photo was taken by Michael Beard of Greenwood in April 2006. This historic revolutionary war site is located next to the town of Ninety Six, close to Greenwood.

Michael writes: "This is a musket firing demonstration during an encampment event at Star Fort. Each April volunteers from all over the South gather at Star Fort to recreate living history of what it was like during America's strugle for freedom."
